Maine Wilderness Program

We have had summer camp for our TLC students at our “Between the Rivers” permanent camp location since 2005.  And been visiting the Moosehead Lake for TLC lakeside campsite camping since 1980.

We have increased our “Between the Rivers” resources in the North highlands of Maine and have increased facilities at our summer camp site as well as in town. Our new facilities are in the village of Greenville, Maine within a short walk to the lake and town businesses.

Our year-round activities include fall trips for the International Seaplane Fly-in and mountain hiking during fall color.  We have winter trips for senior retreat and winter woodlands cross country skiing, and for those that like to ski there is time to use the ample snow on Big Moose Mountain or cross country ski the trails at Lilly Bay State Park a few miles north of town..  Students are able to enjoy 3 mile dog sled rides on our TLC property on our summer camp site and visit the site where pups and sled dogs are trained.

There is time during summer and fall to white water raft and climb local mountains, journey the Moosehead on ship Katahdin, a 19th century lake traveler, still providing a special view of the Moosehead Lake departing from the town of Greenville’s dock.  A short walk from our “Between the River” in town houses.

Students are eligible to sign up for Maine trips during March, April and May then of course during available trips that our students take during Spring and Summer.

We also plan to enable non-students and families to benefit from TLC services at “Between the Rivers” in Maine as well as our TLC students and their families.
