The Studio Arts Program

The Studio offers student’s hands on art projects designed to present the principles and elements of art in a variety of media. At ground level is a pottery studio space with a potter’s wheel, work area for a variety of 3-D projects, and kilns for ceramics as well as jewelry sized metal and glass work. On the main floor, drawing, painting, printmaking and other 2-D projects are undertaken.

Students learn not only how to make art and creatively express their ideas, they learn of related careers and the opportunities their creativity may hold for them. Cultural literacy emphasized through art history and integration of grade level study themes.

In conjunction with Performing Arts, students have the opportunity to create sets, design and make costumes, apply makeup, and provide props, posters and programs for school productions.

There are also opportunities for students to link studio production to the computer lab through the making of models and different digital conversions of their original art into formats to be used in other creative endeavors.  Students also have use of the green screen area for video production.
