Meadows Primary School
At TLC, the Meadows Campus is comprised of three classroom spaces in two building. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of the youngest in our student population up to grade eight. Our classrooms are organized by considering the educational, social, and emotional needs of individual students, and each consists of approximately four to six students. Each classroom offers a highly structured schedule with minimal transitions required for our students.
Instruction is designed to meet the unique needs of each student, with individual and small group instructional designs, as well as computer assisted learning. Students participate in core classes including Literature, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Grammar, and Writing. Physical Education, Music and Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Applied Arts are also included in our curriculum. There are many opportunities for hands on learning experiences offered within the classrooms, as well as throughout the whole campus. Students have the opportunity to work in our farm program, participate in culinary art activities, and utilize the nature trails, including a fly fishing and canoeing pond located on our campus. Off campus field trips are planned regularly, and have included visits to many local attractions such as Mystic Seaport, the Connecticut Science Center, Sturbridge Village, and the State Capital building.
Participation in physical activities is an integral part of each student’s day. Each day our students take part in morning stretches and exercise, organized walks through the campus, and during warmer weather, swimming in our heated in ground pool.
