Overlook Middle School

The Overlook building is made up of students in grades 8-10.  There are certified teachers in the building with degrees in core subject areas and/or special education.

Topics covered in Overlook English/Language Arts classes include: Greek and Roman mythology, Shakespeare, and classics in American and European literature, in addition to grammar and composition.  In History, there is an emphasis on colonial America, The United States from the Declaration of Independence through the Civil War, and the ancient world.  The sciences taught at this level include Physics, Ecology, and Biology.  Mathematics lessons are individualized and include Basic Math, Consumer Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry.  Over the past few school years, the Overlook Team has taken educational field trips to such places as Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA, The Connecticut State House in Hartford, CT, and Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI.  They have also visited local theaters and enjoyed recreational trips such as deep sea fishing, golfing, and hiking.

The Overlook school holds annual chess and archery tournaments. We also recognize and celebrate holidays, the small and the large, with group activities such as trivia games, sporting activities, and buffet or barbecue luncheons.
